Birmingham has attracted the most inward investment, in terms of office space let, of any regional city over the past two years, ahead of Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow and Edinburgh. JLL research found that Birmingham accounted for 35%, or 688,000 sq ft, of inward investment across the six key regional cities.

Bury picks St Modwen

St Modwen has been selected by Bury Council as development partner for the 17-acre Chamberhall Business Park in Bury, Greater Manchester. The regeneration specialist plans to deliver an office-led scheme, the first phase of which will comprise more than 40,000 sq ft.

Plans in for £200m Kampus

Capital & Centric and Henry Boot Developments have submitted plans for the first phase of their £200m Kampus joint development in Manchester’s city centre, which has been forward purchased by Ares. Phase one, on Aytoun Street, will contain 478 PRS homes and two buildings of 12 and 16 storeys containing 30,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.

Steinhoff eyes Poundland

Steinhoff International is considering a bid for Poundland. The South African retailer has until 5pm on 13 July to make a formal offer for the discount chain, which has 500 stores in the UK and Ireland.

Property Tri remembers Bacon

This year’s JLL Property Triathlon North will be held in memory of Tim Bacon, chairman of Living Ventures, who passed away in April. A percentage of proceeds from this year’s event on 29 July at MediaCityUK in Salford Quays, Manchester, will go to Bacon’s nominated charity, the Christie, and the Melanoma Research Fund and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
