Colliers names Brum head
Colliers International has appointed Jon Cookson as head of its Birmingham office. He previously led Colliers’ corporate restructuring team. Cookson takes over from David Smeeton who has joined Cushman & Wakefield, with John Webber having led the office on an interim, transitional basis.
KF appoints C&W retail duo
Knight Frank has appointed Rowen Grandison and David Legat from Cushman & Wakefield as shopping centre leasing partners. The two will be working alongside Alex Munro, head of retail, and new recruit Charlie Barke, head of high street and shopping centre investment, who also joined the firm from C&W.
UK institutions back Birmingham
UK institutions were the most prominent investors in the Birmingham office market last year, accounting for more 58% of transactions by value, according to a report by Bilfinger GVA. Overall ownership by UK-based organisations fell by 1% in 2015 to 70%, however, ownership by Birmingham-based occupiers increased to 9% from 1% in 2014.
GPE appoints portfolio director
Great Portland Estates has appointed Steven Mew from McKay Securities as portfolio director. Mew, who will take up his post in October, will join the executive committee and take responsibility for GPE’s investment portfolio, reporting to executive director Neil Thompson.
