Dorey returns to CBRE

Ralph Dorey, a partner at Montagu Evans, is returning to CBRE as a senior director in central London leasing, working in the West End. Dorey spent six years at CBRE before quitting for Montagu Evans in 2009. His clients include Land Securities, Aviva, TIAA Henderson Real Estate, Legal & General, Old Park Lane Management, CBRE GI and Threadneedle Asset Management.

 

Cheesegrater bolts fall out

An investigation has been launched after a pair of steel bolts fell off British Land’s and Oxford Properties’ Cheesegrater on Leadenhall Street, EC3. Contractor Laing O’Rourke and engineer Arup cordoned off an area around the tower while they examined other bolts on the building.

 

Tower Hamlets Pickled

Communities secretary Eric Pickles has stripped Tower Hamlets of its power to sell property after a PwC report alleged the council accepted late bids that did not represent best value. Pickles has installed a three-man team to oversee property sales in Tower Hamlets until 31 March 2017.

 

DTZ back in private hands

TPG Capital, PAG Asia Capital and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan have completed the purchase of DTZ from Australian engineering group UGL for £675m. The agent will continue to operate as DTZ, with former CBRE group chief executive Brett White joining as executive chairman in March. Tod Lickerman will continue as global chief executive.

 

Shard’s resi brother approved

Southwark council has approved plans for a 26-storey, 148-flat, Renzo Piano-designed residential tower next to the Shard, SE1. The 180,000 sq ft building, the latest phase in the Sellar Property-led 2m sq ft London Bridge Quarter, will be built on the site currently occupied by Fielden House.
