Clayton joins Helical board
Sue Clayton has been appointed to the board of Helical Bar as a non-executive director. Clayton, executive director at CBRE, will become a member of the nominations, audit and remuneration committees and will chair Helical Bar’s property valuation committee. She will take up her role on 1 February.
Law firm signs for St Peter’s
Addleshaw Goddard has taken 56,000 sq ft at Argent and the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund’s One St Peter’s Square in Manchester. The law firm has signed a 20-year lease and will pay around £32.50 per sq ft. JLL acted for Addleshaw Goddard; Savills and Bilfinger GVA represented Argent.
Strong first quarter for malls
The first quarter of 2016 is expected to see more than £1.2bn of investment into shopping centres, according to Cushman & Wakefield. Last year more than £4bn of shopping centres traded – 3% up on the 10-year average but down by 38% on the £5.9bn transacted in 2014.
Guardian rethinks King’s Cross
Guardian Media Group is considering abandoning its plans for a 30,000 sq ft events space at King’s Cross, N1, as it reviews its costs under new management. In December, the media group asked developer Argent to delay work on site to allow it to review its options. Final decisions are expected within a month.
Moneycorp moves to Zig Zag
Foreign exchange specialist Moneycorp has taken 23,000 sq ft on a 10-year lease at Land Securities’ Zig Zag building, SW1. Moneycorp, which will relocate from Knightsbridge, SW3, joins tenants including recruitment agency Egon Zehnder and Deutsche Bank. Knight Frank and Cushman & Wakefield advised Land Securities; BNP Paribas Real Estate advised Moneycorp.
