Shopping centre developer Tops Estates has confirmed that it has bid to turn the Millennium Dome into a sports centre.
The winning bid will be announced on Monday and Tops, which plans to create a vast £125m sports academy is favourite to win.
English Partnerships has only received two serious offers for the Dome. An alternative bid from Delta Meridian, backed by Quintain and Phillip Anshcutz plans to create a 20,000 seat sports arena.
A third bid, from the Wellcome Trust, to create a bio-science park, is understood to have fallen through.
