Pop-up retail start-up Appear Here has partnered with Arcadia Group’s Topshop & Topman to take on close to 20 short-term spaces in the group’s flagship store at 214 Oxford Street, W1.
The partnership will allow brands to book space online in the group’s 90,000 sq ft store for the first time.
The scheme is part of Appear Here’s new In-Residence Collection, a concept that will offer spaces within well-known retail stores, boutiques and department stores around the world. The idea will launch in Topshop and Topman but the group has plans to roll the concept out globally.
Appear Here was founded two years ago by 23-year-old entrepreneur Ross Bailey. Its team includes former Blackstone managing director Peter Lennon.
The firm uses an online platform to list space in all of the UK’s major retail cities.
It has more than 10,000 brands using the service to find space for innovative ideas and pop-ups, including Marc Jacobs, Google, Nike, Net-A-Porter and Jamie Oliver, Coca Cola, Bentley, Adidas, and Dove.
The company is working with 750 landlords across the UK including British Land, Land Securities, Hammerson, Capital & Counties and Soho Estates and raised £5m at the end of last year to build on existing technology and continue expansion.
● Gemma Darling, head of mall leasing at Bluewater for Land Securities, has joined Appear Here’s landlords partnership team. Darling established 50 pop-up spaces at the Kent centre.
She will work with Appear Here’s main shopping centre clients, including Land Securities, on increasing and improving their pop-up space offer.
