Haringey council and the mayor of London have tasked Jones Lang LaSalle with drawing up a regeneration plan for more than 100 acres in Tottenham, north London.
The agent and design company Arup have six months to devise ideas for attracting developers, investors and businesses to the area, which was blighted by riots last year, with numerous properties destroyed.
The study will cover the surrounding area outside Tottenham Hotspur football club’s £400m White Hart Lane redevelopment site and will stretch from North Tottenham, N17, to South Tottenham, N15.
JLL has been asked to provide solutions for improving and adding real estate to complement existing development, including the regeneration of White Hart Lane and Ward’s Corner.
The project will outline how best to achieve targets of 10,000 new homes and 1m sq ft of new commercial space by 2025.
Andrew Hume, lead director in JLL’s regeneration team, said: “We will be focusing on how we can use key new schemes in the area, such as the new Spurs stadium, to leverage other property and investment opportunities in Tottenham. This could include improving the retail variety on offer and regenerating existing housing estates.”
Lyn Garner, director of place and sustainability at Haringey, added: “We have to deliver the ingredients for change which can be implemented alongside the significant investment by the football club. In addition to the catalytic impact of the stadium development, the public sector partners are creating a strategy and delivery plan for investment and regeneration for other key areas in Tottenham.”
JLL’s and Arup’s appointment comes one month after the council unveiled its 13-year masterplan, which was compiled with help from Chelsfield’s Sir Stuart Lipton.
