Lord Hesketh has decided to retain Towcester Racecourse, which forms part of his Northamptonshire estate, after selling his family home for £15m to Leon Max, the owner of Maxstudio.com.
Lord Hesketh exchanged contracts with Max for Easton Neston last Friday but they deal is yet to be completed.
The former chief whip in the House of Lords in John Major’s government put the whole Easton Neston estate up for sale last year for £50m but he decided to break up the property when he failed to find a buyer.
Max is buying a house, two lodges and a stable courtyard set within 222.59ha (550 acres) of parkland.
Agent Knight Frank has already cleared about £20m from the sales which include farmland, some houses in the village of Hulcote and Pomfret Lodge.
