Tower Hamlets Council has lodged a request for an environmental impact assessment ahead of plans for 450 new homes in the regeneration of Harriot, Apsley and Pattison Houses in Stepney, E1.
The council has proposed demolition of the existing 100 homes, of which 79 are social rented homes. These will be replaced with 12 new blocks ranging from three to eight storeys and a potential 12-storey building designed by PRP Architects.
It follows a successful residents ballot in May, in which 93% of residents took part and 98.4% voted in favour of the redevelopment.
The scheme will be car-free and will include community space as well as 35% affordable housing with 79 replacement homes for existing tenants. A detailed planning application is expected to be lodged in spring 2021.
