Tower Hamlets regen gets green light

Wood-Wharf-Masterplan-THUMB.jpegTower Hamlets council has approved plans to regenerate a 4.9m sq ft site adjacent to Canary Wharf, formerly known as Wood Wharf.

The plans were submitted by Canary Wharf Group and include 3,610 flats, four public spaces, a hotel, shops, 1.9m sq ft of offices, a new primary school and health facilities as well as an improved road network.

CEO of Canary Wharf Group CEO Sir George Iacobescu said: “Today’s approval gives us the go-ahead to create a brand new London community, attracting both residents and companies from the fast-growing technology, media and telecoms sector as we continue to diversify.“
