Tower Records plans to open four more UK stores

Tower Records, the world’s largest independent music retailer, has appointed Blair Kirkman to find it four large stores in the UK.

Andy Lown, Tower’s managing director of European operations, said: “With the launch of our on-line internet service in November we are now refocusing on new sites. We see huge potential within the UK and have the funding and advisers in place for steady, organic growth”.

According to Blair Kirkman’s David Justice, the search will focus on stores between 1,394 sq m – 2,787 sq m (15,000 sq ft – 30,000 sq ft). As well as the larger stores, Tower hopes to emulate the success of its Tower Express format in London’s Camden Town and is looking for 372 sq m – 650 sq m (3,000 sq ft – 7,000 sq ft) units.

The retailer has seven UK stores and 188 worldwide. Recently, the company has opened stores in Buenos Aires, Manila, Bogota and Mexico City.
