Trammell Crow lodges plans to revamp former Arcadia site

CBRE’s Trammell Crow has submitted proposals to redevelop the former Arcadia distribution centre at Merton Drive, Milton Keynes, into a 338,000 sq ft logistics scheme.

Under the proposals, filed with Milton Keynes Council, the 19.4-acre logistics site would host three buildings. These will respectively measure 221,000 sq ft, 71,000 sq ft, and 46,000 sq ft. Clear heights will range from 39 ft to 49 ft.

The location, which will create 440 jobs, would also feature increased load capacity on the roof to create scope for photovoltaic arrays and additional natural light. It also seeks to offer infrastructure for electric vehicle charging and increased capacity of floor slabs for mezzanines and pick-towers.

Mike Forster, head of UK logistics at Trammell Crow Company, said: “This is a major milestone as we look to develop the former Arcadia distribution site – part of our active European development programme.

“Milton Keynes is a sought-after logistics location, and the redevelopment will allow us to create a number of new employment opportunities in an area with excellent transport infrastructure.

“The encouraging feedback we received through the consultation has assisted us in readying our submission, and we look forward to continue continuing working with the council as they consider our application.”

Trammell Crow bought the warehouse for £38m in August, marking its debut UK purchase.
