=The owners of The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol, Gloucestershire, have unveiled plans for a £316m extension.
M&G Real Estate, intu and JT Baylis’s 379,430 sq ft plans includes a new anchor store and a 120-bedroom hotel standing on what is now the car park.
The consortium has submitted an outline planning application to South Gloucestershire council.
The project (pictured) would increase the total size of the 727,790 sq ft centre by more than 50%. It will also include up to 178,680 sq ft of leisure and a residential element of as many as 150 flats.
A new bus station, a 1,500-space car park, new roads and a cycle and foot bridge connecting to Merlin Road have also been proposed.
Philip Vaughan, director of development at M&G Real Estate, said: “We believe that the time is right to reshape The Mall to provide a greater focal point for the growing community in this part of northern Bristol.”
If approved, construction could start in 2017 for a 2021 completion.
