Travelodge adds eight hotels to London portfolio

Budget hotel chain Travelodge has exchanged contracts on eight hotels for £63.5m in London.

The hotels – in Clapham Junction, SW11, Bethnal Green, E2, Cricklewood, NW2, Harrow, HA1, Sutton, SM2, Tooting, SW17, Wembley, HA9, and Woolwich, SE18. They will add 801 rooms to Travelodge’s portfolio.

Travelodge said the developments will help it maintain its position as the hotel brand with the most bedrooms and hotels in London. It currently has 41 hotels with a total 5,714 bedrooms trading in London.

Paul Harvey, managing director for development at Travelodge Hotels, said: “With London’s excellent public transport network you can stay as far out as zone 6 but still be in the centre of London within half an hour. This makes London’s suburbs very attractive for tourists and business people looking to avoid paying the high prices in the heart of the capital.”
