Travelodge books Manchester sites

Travelodge-Room-THUMB.jpegTravelodge has bought two sites in Manchester for a total of £9m.

The first site will be for a 86-bedroom hotel on Heaton Lane in Stockport that will occupy part of city centre office block Regency House.

The second site, in the town of Sale, will involve the conversion of an existing four-story 1980s office block into a 67-bedroom hotel with a bar-café and 75 on-site parking places.

Travelodge has exchanged contracts with Orbit Developments for the two sites. Planning applications have been submitted and both hotels are expected to open towards the end of 2016.

Orbit Developments will remain as the developer of the sites.

Paul Harvey, Travelodge’s managing director of property, said: “Manchester is at the forefront of the UK boom and is a key growth area for Travelodge. The powerhouse is a vital hub for business, tourism and is also home to four universities. Therefore we are delighted to boost our current portfolio of 16 hotels in the city with two new prime additions.”

Neil Bowler of Jenics represented Travelodge for the Stockport and Sale deals; Orbit Developments was unrepresented.
