Capital Shopping Centres has submitted planning proposals for a £5m Travelodge hotel at Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock.
The proposed development will also contain a restaurant.
The proposals add to plans unveiled recently for a £180m retail expansion adding 30-40 new stores and more leisure facilities at Lakeside.
CSC will fund the development. Subject to planning, the hotel and restaurant could be open by January 2014.
