Travelodge UK has sold its eight Travelodge hotels in Ireland and Northern Ireland to Smorgs, an Irish company operated by former Jurys Doyle executives Seamus McGowan and Richard O’Sullivan, for 22.15m (£15.2m).
Smorgs will continue to operate the hotels under the Travelodge brand.
The hotels, with a combined total of 520 bedrooms, are in Swords and Castleknock in County Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Belfast and Londonderry.
McGowan, Smorgs’ joint managing director, said that the company plans to open and operate additional properties under the Travelodge banner in the future.
CB Richard Ellis in London and Dublin acted for Travelodge on the sale of the portfolio and the negotiation of the franchise agreement.
