Trillium fails to make council outsourcing deal shortlist

LandSec Trillium has failed to be shortlisted by Surrey county council as its outsourcing partner for a contract worth £10m pa.

The property outsourcing specialist had hoped that the contract would be its first link up with councils, complementing its largely private sector-based income stream.

But Surrey has now revealed that only Equion, Jarvis and Mill Group have made the short list of preferred partners to undertake a 20-year outsourcing partnership for the council’s property portfolio.

The deal will include managing the council’s rationalisation programme, which would reduce its portfolio from around 600,000 sq ft (55,740 sq m) to 400,000 sq ft (37,160 sq m).

Experts believe the contract could be worth around £10m pa in a unitary charge – a fee that encompasses all services.

Sandy Munn, head of property at Surrey council, said: “We expect to be in a position to choose our preferred partner in about a year. This will allow us to go ahead with our policy of relocating the county hall, and outsource the service contracts for our existing 60 offices.”
