Tritax Symmetry has received planning approval for the first phase at its 111-acre Symmetry Park scheme in Rugby, comprising 320,000 sq ft.
Permission has been granted by Rugby Borough Council for two new logistics and distribution facilities measuring 186,000 sq ft and 134,000 sq ft. Both of the units will be built to be net zero carbon in construction.
Tritax has an outline planning permission to deliver up to 2m sq ft of logistics space in total at the Rugby site.
Joseph Skinner, associate development director at Tritax Symmetry, said: “Rugby is a highly desirable location for distribution and manufacturing companies and, with high-quality stock at an all-time low the intention is to speculatively develop the two consented buildings alongside the site-wide infrastructure.”
A contractor will be appointed in the coming months, with construction starting this year to launch for occupation in 2022.
The project team includes SGP Architects, Framptons acting as planning consultant and Tier Consult and Stantec as infrastructure specialists.
Colliers International, Avison Young and M1 Agency have been appointed as marketing agents for Symmetry Park.
