Tritax Symmetry has teamed up with the Land Trust on proposals for a 1m sq ft logistics scheme and country park in Merseyside.
The proposed Symmetry Park hub will be built on land at the former Cronton Colliery in Knowsley, and will sit alongside a 65-acre nature trail park.
It will create an estimated 900 jobs within the Liverpool City Region, as well as generate £46m net additional GVA per annum.
As part of the proposal, the Land Trust will transfer an area of its land to Tritax Symmetry, which will form part of the logistics park.
The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has also agreed to invest £12m to enable the development of the site.
The project team includes Gerald Eve as planning consultants and UMC as architects for the employment scheme.
Michael Lee Architects will work with the Land Trust on the design of the new country park. This will involve 11 acres of broadleaf woodland, 8 acres of wetland habitat and 5km of paths to use for walking, cycling or running.
The sites form part of the sustainable urban extension at Halsnead Garden Village, a housing and employment project.
Planning applications for the each masterplan will be submitted to Knowsley Borough Council this summer after a public consultation.
Matt Claxton, planning director at Tritax Symmetry, said the development will “attract multi-million-pound investment in the logistics sector”.
Euan Hall, chief executive at the Land Trust, said: “The agreement we have made with Tritax Symmetry offers a rare opportunity to bring both jobs and green spaces to our local communities.”
