Trocadero hotel extension gets go ahead

Trocadero London has been granted approval by the City of Westminster to add 84 hotel rooms to the Trocadero Building’s Zedwell hotel, W1.

Plans to extend the Grade II listed building by 23,949 sq ft were unanimously approved, despite being met with uncertainty from councillors.

There were concerns that having 812 hotel rooms in the hotel would make the area too crowded and that the building’s design was not in keeping with the existing building.

Officers said the site is already in a busy area and that the increase is marginal compared with the existing hotel size. They also noted that the “simple extension” was meant to detract from the original building.
