Troubles for Laura Ashley on the home front

Laura Ashley has tumbled to a loss after a slide in online sales and weak demand for its furniture.
After a string of profit warnings in recent years the shares hit a new low of 1.7p, valuing the brand at £12.7 million. They closed yesterday at 1.8p.
The retailer was built by Laura Ashley and her husband in 1953, who dyed headscarves and napkins from their flat in Pimlico. It opened its first shop in 1968 and expanded rapidly.
