Donald Trump has threatened to abandon plans for a £500m golf resort in Scotland if conservationists continue to protest against the plans.
Trump International Golf Links, Scotland, wants to build the complex on 1,400 acres at Menie Estate on the Aberdeenshire coast.
The scheme would consist of two championship golf courses, a 450-room five-star hotel, a golf academy, a turf grass research centre, 950 holiday flats and 36 golf villas.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is concerned about damage to an important feeding ground for birds such as guillemots, kittiwakes, common scoters, eiders and red-throated divers.
Trump said: “‘I do have other alternatives. They have a chance to have the greatest golf course anywhere in the world because of the land, because of the ocean, because of everything, so it would be a shame to waste it.”
Trump has said that he would postpone his decision until after he submits environmental, economic and transport impact assessments in February.
Aberdeenshire council will vote on the development in June.
