Trump’s former finance chief jailed

Donald Trump’s former finance chief has been jailed for tax fraud.

Allen Weisselberg, who struck a deal with prosecutors to reduce his sentence, has been sent to New York’s Rikers Island prison for five months.

The executive had been the star prosecution witness in the case against the former president’s real estate company, pleading guilty to 15 felonies.

Last month two Trump Organization companies were convicted on 17 charges of tax fraud and falsifying business records. Lawyers for the entities said they will appeal. The sentence is due on Friday.
