Central Park, the home of Wigan rugby league team since 1902, could become a supermarket in a £10m deal with Tesco.
Wigan would then play its games five miles away at Bolton Wanderers football club’s new ground in Horwich.
Fans reacted angrily to the news. The club insisted yesterday than no deal had been done, but chairman Jack Robinson admitted that it would be difficult to refuse the Tesco offer.
