Luxury residential developer Sons & Co has bought out the seed equity provided to it by Dragons’ Den star James Caan.
The management team of brothers Alexander and Christian Stocker, alongside Simon Roberts, have acquired the stake held by Caan’s private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw.
They will take 100% ownership of Sons & Co, which has a £150m central London residential portfolio, with immediate effect.
Hamilton Bradshaw took a 50% stake in Sons & Co in 2013, when the developer was looking to ramp up development activity in London.
“The idea was that we wanted some seed capital to turbocharge us and move us quickly up the evolutionary scale,” said Alexander Stocker, chief executive of Sons & Co.
“It was always for between three and five years, that is what attracted us to it, so we could come back to 100% ownership again.”
Stocker said the group could now use finance from a number of sources looking to invest into the London property market.
Caan said: “We invested in Sons & Co at the end of 2013. It was always our intention to exit and now that Sons & Co has over £150m under construction and a healthy pipeline of new deals, the time felt right.
“We have helped to create a healthy business for the management to continue to build on the success the business has delivered to date. We wish them all the very best.”
