Two lettings at Sovereign/Schroders’ Mermaid Quay

Sovereign Land and Schroders have let two more units at their £35m Mermaid Quay development in the Cardiff Bay area.

Optician superstore chain Classic Eyes has taken Unit Seven, a 1,295 sq ft (120 sq m) ground floor shop on Stuart Street, and is paying £28,000 pa on a new 10-year lease.

The store is set to open in mid-October. South Africa-based Classic Eyes is seeking to expand in the UK, with most of its stores being franchised.

Meanwhile, Taylors Estate Agents has taken Unit 13, on Bute Street, on a 15-year lease at £21,000 pa.

The branch, which is set to open in October, will be Taylors’ ninth. Taylors is owned by Countrywide.

Mermaid Quay’s letting agents are Cushman & Wakefield Healey & Baker, King Sturge and Philip Hughes Davies.
