U.K. retail sales jump

Retail sales jumped 6.4% on the year in November in volume terms, the highest rise since May 2004, data from the Office for National Statistics showed. On the month, sales rose 1.6%.

All sectors experienced a rise in the volume of sales, with electrical goods the standout sector, recording a 32% rise on the year.

The period includes sales on “Black Friday” – last year sales for that day were included in the December figures.
