The University of Central Lancashire today announced £200m development plans to transform its Preston campus. Subject to planning approval, the first stage of the development will involve the construction of the £30m-plus Engineering Innovation Centre, commencing in January 2016. Work will also begin on major public realm improvements, as well as regeneration efforts and business improvements in the University Quarter. A new student services building will be built, and the canal basin will be reworked into a public walkway. Car parking will be relocated from the centre to the edge of the campus. UCLan’s vice-chancellor, Professor Gerry Kelleher, said: “Over the coming decade we will invest in the region of £200m to create a world-class campus environment that blends new facilities with the creation of public, green spaces to encourage people from all over the city to visit and enjoy the campus.” chris.berkin@estatesgazette.com
