UGL has dismissed reports in the Australian media that former senior executive Robert Shibuya has accused the firm of “cooking the books”.
DTZ, UGL’s parent company, issued a statement this morning in response to allegations in the media that an unfair dismissal claim had been lodged in the US from Shibuya alleging that his position was terminated for “complaining about, protesting and opposing the company’s ‘cooking of the books’ by mis-stating financial results and manipulating employee bonuses so as to deceive investors”.
In response UGL said: “These claims of financial manipulation and discrimination are completely baseless, and UGL notes that they are made in the context of a claim for monetary compensation for dismissal by a former employee.
“UGL intends to defend them vigorously. UGL is proud of its track record of honesty and integrity and will take all necessary action to defend the claims and is also examining potential counter claims against Mr Shibuya.”
