Aspect, the IT software services company, is the first tenant to sign up to U+I’s Record Store at The Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes, west London.
The company will take the 10,500 sq ft ground floor of the building, which was previously the original headquarters of EMI and His Master’s Voice.
The art-deco Record Store, owned jointly by U+I and a controlled affiliate of funds managed by Colony NorthStar, was originally designed by Wallis, Gilbert and Partners, who are also known for iconic building such as the Hoover Building and Victoria Coach Station.
The building is where the masters of every EMI album were pressed, including those by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The building’s vast open-plan factory floors have now been remodelled into 84,000 sq ft of office space by architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris.
Each of the six storeys has flexible floorplates of up to 15,000 sq ft, offering floor to ceiling heights of more than 3.5m.
Stephen Ball, senior vice president, sales Europe & Africa at Aspect, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be moving into the Record Store – it’s a space with a rich cultural heritage, and the refurbishment reflects that inspiring history and also meets the needs of modern business.”
Savills and Cushman & Wakefield are the appointed letting agents for the Record Store. Retail agents are Savills and CF Commercial.
