U+I’s £100m plans for 310 homes in Maidstone, Kent, have been approved by the council’s planning committee.
The residential development on Royal Engineers Road will see brownfield land transformed with 220 build-to-rent homes and 90 homes for sale.
Designed by architect Guy Hollaway, the scheme includes a range of buildings from eight to 18 storeys at the gateway to Maidstone town centre.
Amenity space will include ground-level terraces and roof-top allotments, as well as a club lounge, which could include workspaces and social areas reserved for tenants.
The development is expected to be completed in the next two to three years.
Richard Upton, deputy chief executive of U+I said: “Maidstone is famous for its paper mills and thread twisting and is an exceptional and relatively affordable place to live. U+I has woven the history of this county town into the architecture and landscape throughout the proposal.”
