UK commercial values up by 0.5%

UK commercial property capital values grew by 0.5% in November – faster than any other month in 2016, according to the latest CBRE Monthly Index.

Industrial capital values outperformed every other sector with 1.2% growth, while office capital values rose by 0.4%.

Total returns rose for the third consecutive month to 0.9%, up from 0.5% in October.

Rental values were largely stable although the industrial sector saw a 0.3% rise, driven by assets in the South East, which rose by 0.4%.

Miles Gibson, head of research at CBRE UK, said: “November’s monthly index shows that the commercial property market continues to surprise on the upside, with almost every indicator at its strongest reading since the beginning of the year.

“At the all-property level, rental growth has not dipped into negative territory at all this year. However, monthly indicators can be volatile and there remain significant uncharted waters ahead.”
