UK & European in €50m portfolio buy

UK & European Investments has expanded its European special situations business with the purchase of a €50m portfolio from an unnamed global financial institution.

The property investment company said the portfolio of limited partnership interests included fund participations in central and eastern Europe.

UK & European’s special situations platform seeks to realise value in the medium and long term by providing short-term liquidity to companies looking to exit European markets.

It is targeting “all sectors of the real estate market” in major metropolitan areas comprising London, the top seven cities in Germany, Barcelona, and Madrid, with a value-add investment programme and a special situations strategy.

In June last year it teamed up with non-performing loans specialist Albulus Advisors to invest up to €100m of equity in the German NPL market.

Adam Golebiowski, acquisitions director, said: “This acquisition represents our continued push into European markets, as we look to substantially increase our asset allocation in the region in the next 12 months by pursuing joint-ventures and direct acquisition targets.

“We are excited by our growth plans particularly in the field of non-performing loans and have demonstrated we can deliver complex transactions across varied geographies.”
