The UK will be the worst performing G7 economy next year, the IMF has warned.
The US, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and Canada are forecast to grow faster, according to the fund.
The new forecast undermines recent claims by Boris Johnson, prime minister, that the UK was the fastest growing G7 economy thanks to its successful vaccine programme and recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
The IMF predicted that Britain’s economy would increase by just 1.2% in 2023 and that its inflation would be higher than every other G7 member and slower to return to its 2% target.
