The group already has a 3,716m2 Dutch club in Eindhoven and plans a further four clubs in the Netherlands. In ten years time we want to have the same amount of clubs in Europe as we will have in the UK, which will be around 200 in total.”

Andrew admitted the group is gathering intelligence about a number of European sites, including Amsterdam. A site in Utrect will open next year and outlets in The Hague and Rotterdam are scheduled to open in 2002.

Cannons recent interim results revealed turnover had increased by 61% from £29.2m in 1999 to £46.9m. Operating profit rose by 74% from £7m to £12.2m. The group currently has 32 health clubs in the UK and plans to grow this to over 60 centres by the end of 2002.
