UK office take-up on a high

Office take-up for the UK last year was the highest since 2001 last year, according to new research by Lambert Smith Hampton.

The towns and cities outside London fared particularly well with office deals with the proportion of space signed exceeding that in central London for the first time since 2007.

Speaking after the launch of LSH’s National Office Market 2016 report Tony Fisher, national head of office agency, said: “The percentage difference was 47% for central London and 53% for the regions and I think that is always a good tipping point for the UK and a rebalancing of the office market.”

The regions have also performed better than central London in the first quarter of 2016, which Fisher believes is due to nervousness about the Brexit vote affecting the City market. To hear more analysis of the figures and Fisher’s tips on cities to watch out for, listen to the podcast.
