UK property stocks ride on the back of US gains

UK blue-chip property stock rallied on the back of gains in the US real estate sector and consolidation hopes.

The City cited the latest deals in the US where Tishman Speyer and Lehman Brothers are paying $22.2bn (£11.2bn) for Archstone-Smith.

Land Securities closed up 34p at £18.88 and British land climbed 25p to £14.25. Directors have also used the fall in LandSec’s share price over the past couple of days as an opportunity to pick up stock. Brixton traded ex-dividend.
