Regional inequality in the UK is worse than any comparable developed country and is continuing to grow.
Research by IPPR North has shown that spending cuts over the past decade have increased the divide, with economic development and infrastructure spending focused on London and the South East.
Only South Africa, the US and Chile were found to have greater regional inequality for income.
