UK’s top Asian property tycoons are worth £170m

Britain’s top 12 Asian property entrepreneurs are worth more than £170m.

According to the UK’s official Asian Rich List, published last week by the Eastern Eye in tandem with its annual Asian Business Awards, the 200 wealthiest Asians include 12 property magnates worth £172.5m.

Four new property millionaires have earned a place on the list since last year, when eight tycoons worth £140m made the top 200.

The two wealthiest entrepreneurs are based in Birmingham. The rest are located in the capital.

Paul Bassi, the 43-year-old chairman of West Bromwich agent Bond Wolfe, which unsuccessfully tried to buy Chesterton’s Birmingham office last month, leads the pack with a £45m fortune.

The figure, up £3m on last year, places Bassi in 43rd position overall.

With an estimated fortune of £22m, Birmingham-based tycoons Nazir Awan and family, who own Awan Real Estate, were placed joint second with London’s Nirmal Sethia of N Sethia.
