The UK’s unemployment rate fell to 4.4% in the three months to June, its lowest level in four decades, figures from the Office for National Statistics.
Average earnings rose by 2.1% compared with 2% in the prior three-month period.
The number of people from other European Union countries working in the UK hit a record high of 2.37m.
