The UK Apartment Association is calling on build-to-rent professionals to contribute to driving standards in the industry.
The UKAA has launched a call for content and funding to create best practises in design, development, construction, mobilisation and operation.
It aims to release the first guide at the annual conference in November 2021, with regular updates to be issued. The guide will feed into the ULI Design Guide and complement the CREFC Guide to Financing Principles.
Lesley Roberts, UKAA president and partner for build-to-rent at Allsop, said: “This is a vital step for the UK’s rapidly expanding BTR industry. Sharing best practice and showing what good looks like in our sector will reduce risk for investors, make life easier for developers and operators, and tap into the expertise of those supplying products and services.
“Ours is still a new product in the UK, and the guide will help us collectively address common issues and inform discussions with stakeholders in government, the media and elsewhere about the benefits of BTR.”
The UKAA was established in 2016 and is led by chief executive Dave Butler. It has around 280 members, with leading investors, operators, advisors and supplies in the sector.
