The UK’s largest Christmas tree farm has been put up for sale, with offers over £7m sought.
A 584-acre site in Strathmartine, Scotland, is currently occupied by Tayside Forestry Christmas Trees, Tayside Forestry Firewood and Pine Cone Café and Gift Shop at Auchray Farm. The businesses are expected to deliver a combined annual turnover of £2.5m for 2022.
In addition, there are two semi-detached, five-bedroom cottages on site, as well as workers’ homes, solar panels and a wind turbine.
Bidwells has brought the site to market on behalf of private seller Brian Hughes, whose father founded the site more than 60 years ago, when the business comprised just nine acres.
Hughes said: “The popularity of real Christmas trees is growing due to people realising how environmentally friendly they are compared to an imported plastic tree.
“It has been a hard decision for me to put the whole business on the market but the time is right. With a focused person at the helm, there is potential to expand the business further.”
