UKTV wires up Canary tower

UKTV, the consortium which made the highest bid for Channel 5, is tipped to be taking two floors totalling some 60,000 sq ft (5,574m2) in Canary Wharf Tower.

Agents Richard Ellis and Jones Lang Wootton refused to comment, but a UKTV spokesman confirmed that it was looking at the Docklands scheme. Rents range from the mid- to top £20s, depending on lease length.

UKTV, currently based at 12-13 Henrietta Street, WC2, comprises Canadian company CANWEST, Scandinavian Broadcast Systems, Select TV and Network 10.

Meanwhile, Canary Wharf, City Corporation and London Docklands Development Corporation have solved their differences, said LDDC chairman Michael Pickard: “We all recognise that the market is the market.

“We are still working amicably with Michael Cassidy on London First issues and generally promoting London.”
