Ron Pressman has been appointed global chief executive of the Urban Land Institute.
The former CEO of TIAA Institutional Financial Services has a more than 35-year track record, including serving as CEO of GE Capital Real Estate.
He will succeed W Ed Walter, who has led ULI for the past four years.
“Working with a global team of passionate real estate and land use experts who are collectively using their skills to make a difference every day has been the gift of a lifetime,” said Walter. “Despite the many challenges, including a global pandemic, we have built a truly global organisation where the wellbeing of our communities is central to everything we do. And this is just the beginning.”
ULI has recently pivoted to three mission priorities: accelerating the commercial real estate industry’s progress to net zero, educating the next generation of diverse real estate professionals and increasing housing attainability in communities around the world.
Walter added: “Ron is well-suited to guide this transition. He is a strategic thinker and doer who understands and cares about the real estate landscape and what the industry can do to effect change on issues of global importance.”
Pressman said: “There is no better time to join ULI. I have long admired the organisation as a catalyst for transforming cities into thriving urban centres.”
The global built environment non-profit has more than 45,000 members in more than 80 countries.
