Uliving studies hard for Herts contract

Bouygues Development’s and Derwent Living’s Uliving consortium has been appointed preferred bidder to deliver a £175m student accommodation project for the University of Hertfordshire.

The consortium will build 2,511 bedrooms at the university’s College Lane campus in Hatfield, and redevelop the 502 existing bedrooms on site. The scheme will also include a gym, sports pitches and study areas.

Uliving beat Balfour Beatty Campus Living Villages, and a joint venture between Sir Robert McAlpine and Sweett Group, to win the contract.

The scheme will be in three phases, starting in May 2013 and completing in September 2016.

Jones Lang LaSalle advised the university.
