Detailed designs for two stations on the HS2 rail route have been published, throwing light on a project hailed as a “once-in-a-lifetime” boost to the West Midlands.
The terminus at Curzon Street in Birmingham city centre will be the northern end of the high-speed line when it opens in 2026. It will enable more than 22,000 passengers a day to be whisked to London and back at up to 250mph.
A second phase, which will extend HS2 in two branches to Manchester and Leeds, is expected to open by 2032.
