Unibail in record rent for La Défense

Tanagra, the company controlled by quoted French property company, Unibail, has clinched the first letting at its Coeur Défense project in La Défense at a record rent for the Paris district.

Crédit Lyonnais bank has agreed to take 30,000 m2 of office space comprising two buildings, B2 and B3, at around FFr2,800 per m2 a month. The rent is comparable to prime rents presently being achieved in Paris’ CBD.

The bank is moving its information technology department to the Coeur Défense development in spring 2001. It says it was attracted to the development because of its location and the large floorplates.

The landmark Coeur Défense, designed by architect Jean-Paul Viguier, comprises twin 39-storey towers and three 8-storey buildings with a linking atrium.

The project occupies the last available site overlooking the main central plaza of La Défense, Le Parvis. Tanagra’s scheme totals some 185,000 m2, including 160,000 m2 of offices, a conference centre, shops, and 2,800 private parking spaces.
