Unilever plots agent shake-up

Global consumer goods giant Unilever is considering an agent shake-up in Europe and North America in what could be one of the largest contracts issued this year.

The company is in the process of a “market gathering exercise”, which is expected to lead to a formal tender process for two of its largest markets.

The company has a global real estate footprint in excess of 50m sq ft.

It appointed CBRE to look after its Asia Pacific, Russian and Middle Eastern operations earlier this year.

In America and Europe, Unilever has a long-standing relationship with Cushman & Wakefield.

It is introducing a global data platform to better understand its property portfolio, with the expectation that a tender will appear once the new system is in place.

Also in the market is American engineering services giant Honeywell, which is seeking advice on its EMEA portfolio.

Jones Lang LaSalle is the incumbent agent and is hotly tipped to retain the account. It is up against CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield and DTZ.

Honeywell has an EMEA portfolio of around 16m sq ft comprised largely of complex industrial assets.

Neither party returned requests for comment.
