Unipart Group has won planning consent for a 41,650sq m (448,331sq ft) manufacturing and assembly plant at Wednesbury, West Midlands, on a 12ha (29 acre) site on the Automotive Component Park.
The Black Country Development Corporation has granted detailed consent for the first phase of the five-phase development. This will comprise an industrial building of 18,250 sq m (196,447sq ft).
The corporation has also given consent for Richardsons Developments’ 42,455sq m (457,000sq ft) industrial /warehouse development on four sites at Parkway, Wednesbury. The Richardson Brothers announced their proposals for these sites earlier in the year. The brownfield sites, totalling 16.18ha (40 acres), have already been granted an investment grant of £8.3m.
The development will be undertaken on a speculative basis. Don Richardson said site works should start in the summer and that the scheme should be completed by mid 1998.
